Shock!!! PIP

Well today we received our copies of Mr Bah Humbugs PIP report , ive just read through it and im frankly gobsmacked , its just a vast tissue of lies , not even small lies these are huge ones . Apparently he can bend down and touch his knees and practically gambol around the house!!! he was observed to walk  200 metres unaided He has no incontinence issues , didnt sob through part of the assessment , in fact hes practically fully healthy can cook for himself , shouldnt need any help with bathing or toileting and is mentally just fine . And his wrist operation has cured him !! he even got marked down for attending church!! which we do once in a blue moon .
FFS have these people no shame .
I really hope theres a special place in hell for the woman who did this assessment , the one who turned up late , had him sobbing in under 5 minutes , never asked him to walk and just pointed to a chair in the garden and asked if he could get there . She can clean him up when hes sobbing and apologising when hes soiled himself and she can  do his endless washing . Hes so embarrassed at what hes been reduced to it makes me want to cry every day . Yes he was clean and well presented , so if your disabled you should be filthy and and dressed in rags . And lets be honest hes clean and tidy because i keep him so . She should have to see him try to cook a microwave meal then be unable to get the film off it and end up with it all over the kitchen . Yes he can make a pot noodle , if someone takes the lid off  and only puts enough water in the kettle for what hes doing . She can mop up the trail of blood when hes constantly cutting himself  because he has no feeling . Or even better lets see what she has to say about the self harm scars his arms are covered in , many more just recently due to this sorry situation she has created .  And lets not forget 80% of those with my partners spinal problem kill themselves within 2 years of diagnosis , because its impossible to take away the pain without drugging him into a coma and hes tried to leave this world on more than one occasion already
And yes i am crying writing this  ...............

  2. I'm so sorry Kate, how can they get away with writing a pack of lies? Yet they do! A close relative of mine has had her PIP refused too, she has MS which causes all sorts of symptoms - sometimes she can't even pick up a cup or walk as she loses all feeling in her limbs, sometimes she can't even get out of bed as she has vertigo so bad she cannot even lift her head off the pillow without throwing up. And yet she's 'not disabled enough'. It's not even that the people who do these assessments don't have any compassion (they need to be neutral, of course), it's the blatant lies they tell.

  4. No words - well I have but they wouldn't be allowed, nor would my opinion of the kind of people who seem to get all the help and then some, and haven't paid a penny into the system !! 'nuf said !!

  5. Ye Gods help us!
This is going on country wide.
I am so sorry Kate. You will of course, contest this. Most of these assessments do get overturned.
How do these megalomaniacal psychopaths keep their jobs! They are costing the country more money than paying out DLA.
Wishing you all the luck you hope for.

  7. I know your anger and frustration well as I have had problems with a claim I put in. I even appealed their decision, but their findings were adamant that because I was (just) over 65 I would have had mobility problems anyway. According to the DWP everyone over 65 can't walk far, has balance problems and is too old to be helped. So if anyone is under 65 and has a claim get it in now, otherwise forget it.

  8. Would it help to try and involve your MP?

  9. I'm sorry to read this Kate. It's so sickening what the powers that be can get away with in order to save money. If he is denied the disability he has, they don't have to spend money on him. That's how the ignoramus like his assessor keeps her job. Save them money, keep your job. I wonder how she sleeps at night, knowing the evil lies and harm she has done.

Please appeal when you get your strength back.

  11. I am so sorry to read this. It makes me ashamed to live in a country where people are treated so badly. My brother was born profoundly deaf with learning difficulties. He had to apply for PIP or I had to do it on his behalf. I nearly died of stress and we had to have a visit from the PIP people. I urge you to appeal. Crying is a release valve use it. Take care of yourselves. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

  12. Not from the UK, but is it possible to video the assessment, and use it as evidence for appeals? Seems very wrong to have someone be able to say something so different in the report, that what actually occurred...

  13. Appeal Kate ASAP and if you can find out if there are any benefit advisers in your local library / council that work on disabilities as they are often the best to fill the forms in and will often help with the appeals and any tribunals. I agree with other who have said that sometimes these people can be so calous. I just spitefully of me maybe hope that something hapoens to them and then they will know how it is on the other side. Take care of yourself please as its important for your walfare and his that one of you is as mentally strong as can be. Sal x

  15. I work for a charity that helps disabled people. They help people to do appeals against their assessments and I believe that there is a very high success rate. Ask your local CAB if there is anything similar in your area. our organisation is called Equal Lives and you could check out our website to see what sort of thing you should be looking for. Hope this may help.

  16. Cannot believe you are having to go through all this nonsense - it is truly a disgrace. I can only concur with the other commentator who urged you to video everything - especially any future appointments. I know it must be embarrassing for him but could you possibly video day to day activities - just to document how difficult things really are for him? I am so sorry hat you have to go through all this - you must be just about at the end of your rope.

  19. I read but haven't commented before . Find assistance from either CAB or one of the charities helping to fight these decisions asap to get a request in for MR . It may need to then go to appeal but a high proportion of these rubbish tissue of lies reports are overturned then .
I'm sorry you face yet another fight for what should be
common sense outcomes . if you have an MP in any way functional get in touch with them and any medical staff who may be supportive in providing hard blunt facts .
There is a special place in hell for all these people who play games with real peoples lives .
Hope all will be sorted .Lots of good advice online from welfare groups with template letters etc. Some are general some may be specific to your husbands health conditions .
Please try to take care of you . Not easy in the circumstances I know but if you hit the floor things will be even worse .

  20. I am at a loss of what to say, I am ashamed that we live in a country where people who really do need help are denied and yet we can support families who are work shy for decades. I can offer nothing but a hug and prayers.

  23. Only just caught up with your blog, Katie. Sorry you and hubby are having issues with his PIP. My only advice is stick with it. Appeal, appeal, appeal...and get help with your statement. Does he have a case worker or someone who could write his statement for him? My oldest son has Aspergers and was only properly diagnosed a year ago (after waiting 18 moths for an assessment). We applied for PIP for him last November...he initially received zero points in every category. He appealed with help from a Social Services Information officer (before he'd had a full needs assessment by SS and given a proper case worker)and was turned down again. Finally, about 2 months ago his marvellous new case worker applied for a tribunal hearing for him (which is carried out by independent doctors and assessors not chosen by the DSS). As it happened his case worker wrote a brilliant appeal for him and he didn't actually have to go to a tribunal after all; he received a phone call out of the blue saying he'd been awarded more than the required points and he now receives living and mobility PIP and, because Apergers is a lifetime condition, he won't need to be reassessed for 10 Years (the longest they can award it without reassessment). It was also backdated to when he applied in Nov so he received a £3000 plus award. So please, keep trying and find someone, an organisation or individual who will fight on your hubby's behalf...don't give in! Best of luck to you both.

  24. Hi, I am writing from Canada and we have similar challenges with despicable insurers whose agents receive bonuses when disability claims are declined. DO NOT GIVE IN, definitely appeal. These are benefits for which you pay and to which your husband is entitled. Claims should properly be challenged only for fraud; these people are not mental or physical health experts and can successfully be challenged. Someone has cited Equal Lives here and it sounds like you also may qualify for legal aid. A solicitor may be able to help. This is what we had to do for my husband under the most dire circumstances. You may feel more secure if you strategize to set up a Plan B so you have someone to advocate for your family. You got this. Good luck, and I wish I had your savvy canning/preserving/pickling skills. https://www.gov.uk/check-legal-aid
